We offer you a comfortable friend and family orientated environment. Our technologists are friendly and knowledgeable. Do I need an appointment?
Yes, appointments are necessary for all of our services. When scheduling an appointment, we take a nonrefundable deposit over the phone. This deposit goes toward your total and secures your appointment time. We do offer same day appointments as well.
Will my ultrasound be performed by a licensed sonographer?
All of our sonographers have completed a diagnostic ultrasound program and are either ARDMS licensed or eligible. Our sonographers have completed extensive 3D/4D/HD training to provide you with the best possible pictures.
When is the best time to have a 3D/4D/HD ultrasound?
That depends on what you are looking to see. Many mothers like coming in twice, early on at 15-26 weeks when they can see the baby as a whole, and then again at 25-34 weeks to see a more detailed face. Between 27 and 32 weeks your baby develops more fat and gets a more defined face. After 34 weeks, it becomes more and more difficult to obtain good pictures since the baby is running out of room.
Does this take the place of an ultrasound at my doctor’s office?
ABSOLUTELY NOT! Women seeking a prenatal ultrasound at Sneak-A-Peek must already be receiving treatment with a healthcare provider for prenatal care and have already undergone a medical, diagnostic ultrasound ordered by their provider to confirm due date, screen for fetal anomalies, and to look for any other pregnancy related issues. All imaging provided by Sneak-A-Peek is strictly an elective ultrasound and at no time should be confused with, or used in place of a diagnostic ultrasound. Please bring your medical ultrasound photo for proof of medical care to Sneak-A-Peek at your scheduled appointment time.
Is ultrasound safe? Are there any risks to me or my baby?
Extensive studies over 35 years have found that ultrasound has not been shown to cause any harm to the mother or baby. Routine scanning of all pregnancies is now normal throughout the United States. In 3D/4D/HD scanning exactly the same type and intensity of ultrasound is used as with conventional 2D scanning. 3D and 4D ultrasound both utilize sound waves to look inside the body. The technology is similar to radar. A probe placed on the body emits sound waves into the body, listens for the return echo and generates an image. A 4D ultrasound will be similar to a conventional scan in term of exposure.
What can I do to ensure the best pictures of my baby?
Drink! Drink! Drink Water!!! We recommend that all pregnant mothers who schedule appointments with Sneak-A-Peek continuously hydrate by drinking plenty of water for 3 days straight prior to coming in for your ultrasound appointment. This will help to ensure your amniotic fluid is clear as well as full. We have found that hydration improves the clarity of your 3D ultrasound photos significantly.
All mothers should try to pay attention to what wakes your baby, and do that on the day of your 3D/4D/HD ultrasound. For some mothers this means eating a meal, a few chocolate pieces, or having some fruit juice! Do whatever works for you and your baby so we can see their cute little faces awake and in the mood to play!
We encourage you to enjoy the fun and some of the funny positions your baby prefers rather than holding out for that perfect Glamour Shot. We have observed at times even when parents are seeing beautiful pictures of their baby’s face, they are still hoping for more, like seeing the baby awake with eyes open and moving. At Sneak-A-Peek, we encourage you to not have this attitude because you may regret not enjoying this once in a lifetime experience between you and your baby. Please remember that most unborn babies sleep between 20 to 22 hours a day so it is unlikely that your baby will be awake during your ultrasound session. Even though he/she is sleeping, the baby may still yawn, stretch, suck its thumb or toe, and even stick out its tongue!
Please remember to remove any and all belly rings prior to any ultrasound done at Sneak-A-Peek. Our 3D/4D/HD ultrasound probes are specially designed with crystals and should never come into contact with metal. If you have any dermal piercings that cannot be removed Sneak-A-Peek will not be able to perform your ultrasound until they are removed.
Will I always get beautiful images of my baby?
Usually, but not always will the customer receive perfect pictures. Sometimes if the baby is persistently looking down or toward your spine it may be difficult to see the baby’s face. Other factors such as the baby facing the placenta or lack of amniotic fluid in front of the baby’s face, may affect the quality of the images.
Initially, our sonographer will try repositioning the mother, asking her to turn on her left or right side and/or walk around. This is done in order to obtain a better position in acquiring better images. If we are unable to obtain images during the session, we will schedule a repeat scan on a weekday as deemed appropriate by the sonographer. This allows time for the baby to turn to a favorable position.
We make no promises that the images will be similar to those you might have seen at our studio or elsewhere, or that we can always meet everyone’s expectations. Every baby scans differently depending on its gestational age, body position, amount of fluid, and mother’s condition. Sneak-A-Peek promises to make every effort to obtain the best possible images.
Can I bring my family and friends?
Yes! Of Course! We encourage our clients to invite family and friends to attend the elective 3D/4D/HD ultrasound session. Children are also welcome and we provide plenty of toys and books to keep them entertained. This is a joyous and wonderful experience, one that can be shared with your family and loved ones.
Is 3D/4D/HD ultrasound covered by insurance?
At this point, insurance does not cover the costs of our ultrasounds. Since this is an elective procedure and is not intended to be a replacement for your doctor ordered ultrasound, you will need to pay the cost of this ultrasound as an out of pocket expense. We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express and Debit Cards. We do not accept checks. Sorry for any inconvenience.
